- it should be noted that computers and printers also have this option. This
feature means that where the equipment has been inactive for a period of
time, from 5-30 minutes would be the norm, it will shut itself down into an
inactive mode that uses less electricity. When the user comes back
to the machine and moves the mouse or sends a print job to the printer the
device re-activates and functions as normal. For users of Microsoft
Windows the power save options can be adjusted using the Control
