TELEWORKING
 
Teleworking is about using technology to work in places other than in the company office.  People can telework whilst on the train or in a hotel room using their laptop computer or mobile phone.  Increasingly though people are making greater use of all new technology, particularly the Internet, to work from home rather than going in to the office.  This may be for 1 or 2 days per week or even for the whole week.  Visits to the office are still required to ensure that the teleworker is still part of the workforce and that their work is shared with others.
 
ADVANTAGES OF TELEWORKING
 
Some of the advantages of teleworking are:
  • reduced or no commuting time,
  • greater ability to focus on one task,
  • flexible schedules,
  • reduced company space requirements.
 
DISADVANTAGES OF TELEWORKING
 
Some of the disadvantages of teleworking are:
  • lack of human contact,
  • less emphasis on teamwork.
