OPENING (EXPANDING) A DRIVE OR FOLDER

 
Drives () and folders () can be opened/expanded in a number of different ways:
  • double-click the drive () or the folder ()
  • click the plus () icon to the left once
    N.B. The plus icon will change to a minus icon.

The screen shot above shows the Local Disc (C:) drive expanded in the left window.

Drives () and folders () can be viewed:

  • click the drive () or the folder () itself

The screen shot above shows the contents of the My Documents () folder expanded in the right window.

 

CLOSING A DRIVE OR FOLDER
 
Drives () and folders () can be closed in a number of different ways:
  • double-click the drive () or the folder ()
  • click the minus () icon to the left once
    N.B. The minus icon will change to a plus icon.

The screen shot above shows the folder closed in the left window.

 

CREATING NEW FOLDERS/DIRECTORIES
 
New folders/directories can be created by selecting File, New and then Folders in either Windows Explorer or My Computer.  Any number of folders and sub-folders can be created.  It is very important to name the folders appropriately, although it should be noted that names can be changed at a later date.

Old folders can also be deleted, including their contents, by selecting Delete on the File menu.  Care should be taken before deleting folders.
